CORNELL METHOD & MIND MAPPING

Note-taking it is a important skills for each students in the university.

In the classroom, every students can do the note-taking in the same time, but if you see the

notes, there are many kinds of different note-taking!

But what is the successful of note-taking?

If you in a lessons how can you do the best way to note-taking?

Below the article, I will introduce two different methods of note-taking.

CORNELL METHOD

About Cornell method we can realize, there is a form in four sections.

Section one is about lecture’s title, who is a speaker or author and date.

Section two this part is during the lecture you need to make notes. Remember when you take

notes you don’t need to use complete sentences because it’s waist time and will get your notes

mass. Don’t write down single words, if you only records one word, after you review the notes

you won’t understand what did you write and there is no connection for notes.

Section three – after class as soon as possible to review your notes and write down key

concepts, points and what question should we discuss.

Section four – write down the summaries of main ideas for complete sentences.

Advantage:

– Clear, understand in the notes.

– Each step prepares the way for the next part of the learning process.

– It is efficient.

Disadvantages:

– This system may not show relationships by sequence when needed.

MIND MAPPING

Mind mapping is a diagram used to visually organized information. Is one of   method of

capturing information created.

Tony Buzan, who is a international speaker and bestselling to created Mind Mapping.

It is proven to boost your productivity, creativity and memory.

How to do the Mind Mapping?

First, you need to create a central idea. Central idea is the starting point for your Mind

Mapping and represent your topic to explore.

Second, add branches to map.

Third, add key words.

Fourth, you can color codes your branches to identify different point.

Finally, you also can includes any images to help your memory.

Advantages:

– Easily to create and expand your ideas.

– Easily to know the relationship between the circle and circle .

– Easily to present your ideas for everyone in Power Point Presentation.

-Visualize a whole concept.

– Plan an essay.

Disadvantages:

– If you have bad organization that you will get your map messy

– When you’ve personalised your map, it can be difficult for others to understand.

After class, I learned this two methods to help ours note-taking skills.

Although, it is not first time to know Cornell Method and Mind Mapping.

I think I am more prefer  Mind Mapping than Cornell Method because picture or photo it’s

easy to remember for my memory.

In normal time, not only in the class but also use Mind Mapping in my notebook.

Cornell Method is also a useful not-taking skill, it’s nice and clearly for notes.
